  • Nowa Huta district: 18th district of Krakow where 25% of the city population lives, strong working class history, relatively limited access to financial capital and cultural resources.In Poland:
  • Poland has the highest rate of rising childhood overweight and obesity in the EU and needs prevention programmes going beyond individual responsibility.
    – Overweight: children (1-3 years): 10%; early school-age: 30%; adolescents: 22%.
    – Obesity: boys (13%); girls (5%).
  • Poverty in Poland: 4,2% (extreme) 6,5% (statutory) 12% (relative).

Krakow in Greenery, Kraków Municipal Greenspace Authority (ZZM)

As part of the Municipal Greenery Board in Krakow, the "Kraków in Greenery" team organizes events, workshops, recreational activities and encourages Krakow residents to actively spend time in green areas. We want parks to become, as they once were, centers of social life, gathering and engaging residents, positively influencing the restoration of social bonds between neighbors and others. Krakow in Greenery also facilitates various projects and events related to urban food systems, urban agriculture and food education.

The Kindergarten supports children in motor and musical expression, and develop creativity and sensitivity to beauty. Since the beginning of preschool’s existence, it has been referring to the culture and traditions of the region. It develops and nurtures children's individuality and uniqueness, taking care of their well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and teaching respect for others.

Department of Nutrition and Drug Research, Institute of Public Health, Jagiellonian University Medical College

Institute of Public Health is conducting scientific research and development, as well as training within the broadly defined area of public health. The focus of its scientific and didactic interests and efforts is on those aspects of health care that fall outside medicine, such as: health care organization, administration and management; health economics; social aspects of health care systems; epidemiology; health promotion; community health; nutrition; management of medicines and medical devices; computerisation and issues related to dissemination of information within health care system.

Krakow Food Bank is a charity focused on logistics. It find ways to obtain free food from supermarkets and producers, and then distribute it to food insecure sectors of Krakow region's population.

Institute of Mother and Child

The Institute of Mother and Child (IMC) is an academic and research institution, with 60 years of tradition and a proven track record in Poland and on the international arena. The IMC was founded in 1951 by the Polish Council of Minister's resolution and has participated in solving health-related and social problems of mothers, children and adolescents since that time.

Postdoctoral researcher specialised in food and public health. Currently member of BALMIS research group of the University of Alicante, with participation in the project “Implementation of a Human Milk Bank in the Hospital Belén de Trujillo” of the University of Valencia.

Fruits del Secà 

Fruits del Secà nació en 2013 con el objetivo de hacer una agricultura más respetuosa con el medio ambiente y de comercializar productos obtenidos a través de circuitos cortos. Cultivan, procesan y comercializan frutos secos, legumbres, cereales y lino, que luego procesamos para poder vender. También disponen de un molino de piedra que les permite transformar el cereal en harina y así poder llegar a pequeños forjadores que trabajan con productos locales.

GRoW

The GRoW (FCSBlanquerna – Universitat Ramon Llull) develops research, training and knowledge transfer actions around health promotion and disease prevention and treatment from an interdisciplinary and participatory perspective, in order to contribute to improving the health and well-being of the population.

IrsiCaixa

The Living Lab for Health’s mission is to facilitate multi-stakeholder innovation networks to solve complex and persistent health challenges and increase collective impact through methodologies of system innovation. It addresses prevention and health promotion challenges (e.g. healthy and sustainable diets, affective and sexual health, mental health and COVID-19 prevention), as well as prevention, diagnostic, and therapeutic challenges around diseases that have co-morbidities or require consideration of a wide range of factors (e.g. Long COVID or the development of immunotherapies). The Lab has the support of the “la Caixa” Foundation and projects funded by the European Commission.
